The Christmas Bling Sale to Help the Kitties

i just wanted to drop a quick post to let you all know that there is a serious nature behind the Xmas Bling Sale over at the Planet.  this sale is to help two kitties in need.

Willow who was not happy when I came into her room to vacuum and clean a bit.

the first is Willow who is the little feral kitty i took in back at the beginning of Oct. when i moved into the new place.  while i’ve been networking her to try and find a rescue that’ll take her in, i have continued to feed her and work with her on trying to do some socialization.  the thing is tho, Willow really needs some vetting.  despite being fed on a regular basis, she still looks pretty ruff.  her fur doesn’t look as if she’s grooming it, and i’m a bit concerned because she doesn’t seem to be putting on any weight, like i had hoped she would once out of the wild.

she desperately needs to be vetted; and what i mean is seen by a vet with a full check up, including shots, and also FELV FIV testing as well as being spayed.

as you can see by the expression on her face in the above picture, we have a ways to go with socialization.  i had hoped by now to have her into a rescue that can work with her more aggressively, but until that can happen she needs vetting and continued care and work.

the second kitty in need, is Ashley.  she has severe stomatitis, making it very difficult to eat.  she’s on a diet of wet food, but the final diagnosis is that all of her teeth need pulling.  on top of this, she also has chronic respiratory problems, and it’s been determined that the removal of her teeth, with all the infections in her mouth, would lead to a boost in her immune system and a return to a much more healthier state.

i now have a vet who would charge what i consider a reasonable fee-everyone else like up around a $1000 and mine gave an estimate of about $400-and so i think it’s do-able.  it would also greatly ease Ashley’s suffering.  it’s heartbreaking to see her. she’s underweight, the bad breathe, and she won’t let you come anywhere near her mouth without a wicked response of her very sharp claws.  not that I can blame her.  my understanding is that stomatitis is one of the most painful problems for cats ever.
